With over 10 years of experience in the children's mental health field, Laura has worked in many settings including hospital (formerly on the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at Markham Stouffville Hospital), day treatment, schools, and community mental health settings across the GTA.
Laura is dedicated to providing inclusive and non-judgemental support to diverse children, youth and families, creating a safe space to explore life's experiences, relationships, and emotions. Laura has specialized training in supporting LGBTQ2S+ children, youth and families, and utilizes an anti-oppressive lens in the counselling space. Laura has a casual, down to earth, and approachable demeanor which allows her to build relationships easily with youth who may have struggled to engage in counselling in the past.
Laura has extensive and evidence-based training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and advanced Crisis Intervention skills. Laura utilizes an eclectic approach to counselling that is collaborative, trauma-informed and client-centered. Laura holds a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Ryerson University and a Masters of Social Work Degree from York University. Outside of work Laura loves spending time with her family, being active outdoors, and watching live music.
