Alia is a Registered Dietitian with a love for home cooking and a soft spot for chocolate chip cookies. She believes that food, and the nutrients it offers, are the foundation for a healthy and functional body and mind. She also believes that food is delicious! And it can stay that way, even while we make lifestyle changes to achieve our best health.
Alia holds an undergraduate degree in Foods and Nutrition (BSc) as well as a Master of Science in Foods and Nutrition (MScFN) from Western University. She has years of experience in environments ranging from rural to urban, helping hundreds of people achieve their best health. She relies on the trusted relationship between herself and her clients to collaboratively help find their balance and create a tailored plan that works for them.
Over the years she has had the opportunity to work with clients using evidence-based research to improve their cholesterol, blood sugar levels, allergies and more. In recent years, Alia has worked extensively with parents of picky eaters and children with other complications. She has also worked to ensure that child care centre menus across the GTA meet the CCEYA and ODPH guidelines for childhood nutrition while still maintaining excellent quality and flavour.
Alia’s specialties include:
· Paediatric Nutrition (weight management, failure to thrive, picky eaters, iron deficiency etc.)
· Nutrition for pregnancy (pre and post-natal)
· Emotional eating
· Chronic disease prevention (heart disease, cholesterol, IBS etc.)
Outside of dietetics, Alia loves running around with her kids, cake decorating, experimenting in the kitchen and reading all sorts of books.
